The Physician Difference
At Texas Ketamine & Wellness Center, we do not utilize "remote" supervision or off-site oversight. Every infusion—whether in our clinic or in your home—is directed and monitored by Xinwei Liu, MD.
As a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician, Dr. Liu is an expert in:
Hemodynamic Monitoring: Precise management of blood pressure and heart rate.
Airway Management: The highest level of safety training for sedation and anesthesia.
High-Acuity Care: Years of experience managing complex medical cases in Houston’s busiest emergency departments.
ICU-Grade Monitoring Protocols
We utilize the same medical-grade equipment found in top-tier hospitals to ensure real-time safety tracking throughout your experience.
Our Monitoring Suite Includes:
Continuous 3-Lead ECG: Real-time heart rhythm analysis.
Pulse Oximetry (SpO2): Continuous monitoring of blood oxygen levels.
Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP): Automated tracking at regular intervals.
Capnography (Available upon request): Monitoring of respiratory rate and CO2 output.
Precision IV Dosing (Sub-Anesthetic)
Safety is also found in the science of the dose.
Evidence-Based Protocols: we follow the American Psychiatric Association (APA) consensus guidelines for sub-anesthetic Ketamine dosing (typically 0.5mg/kg).
Slow-Drip Infusion: Our infusions last 40–60 minutes for mental health and longer for chronic pain, allowing for a gentle onset and "easy" offset.
Zero-Addiction Protocol: Our clinical settings and low-dose IV administration carry a negligible risk of dependency, unlike unmonitored or recreational use.
Infusion Room
The "At-Home" Safety Standard
Our Concierge service brings the hospital’s safety to your living room.
To qualify for our Concierge Mobile Infusion Service, every patient must meet our "Safe-Home" Criteria:
Clinical Clearance: A pre-infusion medical screening to ensure no contraindications (uncontrolled hypertension, active psychosis, etc.).
The Responsible Adult Rule: A designated friend, family member, or caregiver must be present at the home for the duration of the treatment and the immediate recovery period.
Environment Check: Dr. Liu will verify that the treatment area is quiet, safe, and allows for full medical equipment deployment.
Emergency Readiness: We bring a "Full-Response Kit" to every home visit, including ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) medications and equipment.
Pre-Treatment Requirements
To ensure a safe and comfortable experience, all patients must adhere to the following:
Fast from Food: No solid foods for 4 hours prior to infusion.
Clear Liquids: Small sips of water are allowed up to 2 hours prior.
Transportation: Patients are strictly prohibited from driving for 24 hours post-infusion. We require a pre-arranged ride home (for clinic visits) or a designated caregiver (for home visits).
Post-Infusion Recovery & Discharge
We do not rush the healing process.
Active Recovery: Patients remain under direct medical observation for 30–60 minutes post-infusion until all vital signs are stable and the patient is fully alert.
Physician Discharge: No patient is cleared until Dr. Liu personally confirms they have reached "Ready for Discharge" status.
Follow-Up: A 24-hour post-treatment check-in is conducted to monitor mood improvement and physical well-being.
